Matt + Jess | Alta, Wyoming | 06.27.15

Matt and Jess’s wedding brought me out to the beautiful Grand Tetons, more specifically to the base of the Grand Targhee Ski Mountain in Alta, Wyoming. I arrived the day before the wedding, and once I got settled in we headed up the road to a nice scenic area for a quick portrait session at sunset. We found a really cool spot lined with aspen trees for the first look prior to the ceremony. These two picked a really cool spot for the ceremony with the alter right in front of a creek that flows along the Teton Teepee Lodge where the rest of the festivities took place. It was so much fun getting to know this awesome couple and their family and friends over the weekend. Thanks for having me along Matt and Jess, and congrats!

Matt + Kaity | Missoula, Montana | 05.30.15

It felt great to be back home to Montana for Matt and Kaity’s wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn. We snuck away to Greenough Park on the East Side of town for their first look and portraits before the ceremony. Green surroundings and a couple of cool little bridges made for an awesome location for their first look. The weather held out just long enough to get through all the portraits and back inside of the Hilton before a torrential downpour happened. The whole day went real smoothly and these two were a real pleasure to get to know and work with. Thanks Matt and Kaity; best wishes!

Brian + Kristin | Sandpoint, Idaho | 09.13.14

It was nice to be back in North Idaho for Brian + Kristin’s wedding at the Eureka Center retreat out in the woods just outside of Sandpoint. These two really nailed the North Idaho vibe with all of their special touches and details, not to mention the awesome venue. September weddings in the Northwest are always some of my favorites! Thanks for having me along Brian and Kristin!

Andrew + Jamie | McCall, Idaho | 09.06.14

Andrew and Jamie brought me out to one of my favorite areas in this state — McCall, Idaho. Not only does this town share the same name as yours truly, it is one of the most scenic slices of land in the entire Pacific Northwest.

The wedding screamed Idaho, and reminded me of why I love calling this state home.

Congrats guys; it was a privilege documenting your day!

Aaron + Sam | Haines, Oregon | 08.30.14.

One thing I really treasure about my field of work is the opportunities it presents to travel. So when Sam and Aaron reached out to me about photographing their wedding in a beautiful part of Oregon I had never been to, I was completely on board!

I got to hang out with them the day before for the rehearsal dinner at a super cool ranch house in the hills above town. The wedding took place at the Methodist Church which is over 100 years old. Haines, Oregon is a very small rural town near Baker City in Eastern Oregon. The town had a lot of character and neat old buildings that made for some really great spots to grab some portraits.

Aaron and Sam were so great to work with and very hospitable. After the wedding I packed up the gear and headed down to camp with the wedding crew overnight at Phillips Lake. It was a lot of fun hanging out and getting to know everyone! Thanks again Sam and Aaron, congrats!

Erik + Katie | Mukogawa Chapel – Spokane, WA

Erik + Katie’s wedding brought me back once again to the historic Mukogawa Chapel in Spokane Washington. I love documenting a ceremony in an old building such as this that is rich in history and architecture. It was an excellent way to kick off the summer wedding season and I would gladly be back for another one at this beautiful venue, especially for clients as awesome as these two! I also believe Katie got the most unique wedding band I’ve seen on a groom’s hand! Cheers Katie and Erik, thanks for having me along!

Odds & Ends and Recent Work

The blog is back from the dead!

A while back my web hosting was interrupted for a few days which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some of my content and settings, leaving me unable to upload to my site. Everything has been restored and I’m finally able to upload photos again and make new blog postings, so you’ll notice many of my galleries have had some fresh stuff added.

I’m going to cover a lot in the blog post to get back up to speed.

WEDDING PACKAGES & PRICING UPDATES:

I think I speak for most photographers when I say that photography is ever changing – and that goes for the business end of it as well. I’ve taken note of what my past wedding clientele have been looking for in their wedding photography and have molded my packages more closely around what I’ve learned from you guys.

I believe that simple is better, and with that philosophy I’ve overhauled my wedding packages, offering three distinct packages based solely on coverage amount and the subsequent amount of final photos delivered. I’ve left enlargements, second photographers, albums and any extras along those lines separate of the packages with the ability to add them on an a-la-carte basis.

Here is a link to my updated wedding photography pricing: 2013-14 WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PRICING.

In addition to weddings, I’ve also provided a little more info and insight into my engagement, portrait and event pricing, all of which have their own price guides linked to the info pages on my site.

Speaking of weddings…

MEG + PAT’S WEDDING – BOZARTH MANSION – SPOKANE, WASHINTON

Spokane has some really great historical buildings to get hitched at, and the Bozarth Mansion is no exception. Add Meg and Pat to the mix — an awesome, easy-going couple  — and I couldn’t ask for a more perfect wedding to shoot. I really have the best clients in the world.

Thanks Meg + Pat for being so awesome and for letting me hang around for the day; it was a blast! Best of luck to you two!

REAL ESTATE

The folks at Tomlinson Sotheby’s International Realty here in Coeur d’Alene have been keeping me busy shooting beautiful homes throughout North Idaho.

One thing that keeps photography fresh and exciting for me is the ability to shoot a variety of assignments. Architectural photography is something I had little experience with a few years ago, so it’s been fun gaining expertise and honing my skills in that area of photography.

If you or someone you know is a realtor and in need of professional photography for their listings, I have more information and a pricing guide here: REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY INFO

Here are some favorites from recent property shoots.

COMMERCIAL/EDITORIAL + MISC.

I’ve been working up an appetite lately shooting photos for some area pubs and restaurants, including Black Diamond Billiards, Syringa Japanese Cafe & Sushi Bar and Tony’s On The Lake.

It was also great to hear from Al Hurt of Silver Bullit Cafés again to shoot his latest restoration, a 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 café racer. We headed up to Arbor Crest Wine Cellars in the Spokane Foothills and had a pretty epic shoot of the two-wheeled beauty.

The folks down at Alpaca Direct in Hayden make some seriously awesome (and warm) hand-crafted clothing and it’s always fun shooting their new products. We headed down to Honeysuckle Beach this time and braved the cold to get some fresh photos of hats, gloves and scarves.

The Copper Mountain Band came back to Coeur d’Alene to play at the new Country Club and had me photograph their show. It’s always a lot of fun shooting these guys and the new establishment has a pretty nice stage and lighting setup which was a pleasant surprise.

I did my first-ever golf course shoot, photographing each of the 18 holes at the Black Rock Country Club on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Black Rock is truly a unique and amazing golf course and reminds me of why I love it up here in the Inland Northwest so much.

I had an abosulute BLAST covering the North Idaho Fair & Rodeo in Coeur d’Alene. The Kootenai County Fairgrounds handed me a small shot list, an all-access photo pass and turned me loose. It was truly a visual playground and a lot of fun stomping around the grounds making rectangles.

Here’s a little variety of the aforementioned stuff, along with a few snaps from a recent trip to Glacier National Park.

Nick + Karin | Kingston, ID | 10.20.12

Well, I’ve shot a wedding in snow now.

Although flurries fell only momentarily at the end of Nick and Karin’s big day in Kingston, Idaho, it was still a reminder by mother nature that it is October… in North Idaho. Flurries aside, I couldn’t have been happier with the way things played out at French Gulch, a garden tucked away in the mountains where Nick and Karin tied the knot. The day begain with blue skies and sunshine, progressing to overcast conditions later in the day. Cloud cover may not sound ideal to most; however, for a photographer it provides some truly awesome lighting to work with. The lighting throughout the ceremony and reception was very soft and even, providing for some really great conditions for shooting.

The celebration felt very close and intimate, as it was a smaller gathering of close friends and family, which provided some really great moments to photograph. It’s the one thing that keeps me coming back to weddings and appreciating the chance to document some of the most meaningful moments in a couple’s life.

Nick and Karin were an outstanding couple to share the day with and I wish them the best in their journey through life together! Congrats!

Drew + Maegan | Colbert.WA | 10.06.12

There’s nothin’ like a country wedding.

I had the pleasure of photographing Drew and Maegan’s engagement session at this same location where they ultimately tied the knot. Maegan’s parents have a lovely Victorian home nestled in the trees and farmlands of Colbert, Washington, where the big day took place. They constructed a huge white barn which provided an awesome place for the reception and dancing to take place, and a nice backdrop for the ceremony. There’s something special about having a wedding “at home” instead of a venue that really works out nicely. I had a blast documenting their celebration and couldn’t have asked for a better location to make some photographs. I commend their bravery in planning an outdoor wedding in October in the Northwest. You never know what the weather may be like this time of year, but luckily there was nothing but blue skies and sunshine all day.

Thanks for letting me tag along for the day and congrats guys!
